Thoughts so far

Watching through Marble Hornets, reading through one or two mythos, I gather that Slendy isn't very nice.

No shit.

My feelings go out to the folks in the mythos I've read though. Zeke, Ava, Anthony. If this Slendy business is to be believed, then I'd better start getting serious with the stuff I'm doing.

Something of note: after trawling through part of The London Librarian, I wondered whether Slendy had any Asian cousins, so I fired up Google and I found these:

In Chinese culture:

Guǐ Shù (鬼树) or Ghost Tree in English, are spirits which live in trees. They confuse travellers by appearing in random locations, especially in forests. Although the spirit does not appear to the living in its human form, the mere appearance of a tree itself at night evokes feelings of fear in a person. Hence there exists the popular sayings that one should not look up at a tree at night for fear of seeing something supernatural.

In Malay culture:

Hantu Galah (pole ghost) is a very tall and thin ghost found among the trees and bamboos. To make it disappear, a person simply picks up a stick or twig and breaks it.

And since, from the stuff I've read and watched about Slendy here, he seems to be attracted by trees. Something about rain or water too.

Well, hope this clears up some more doubts about Slendy. Maybe he's just a ghost? But I highly doubt it. With all the deaths involved, perhaps these ghosts aren't really relevant.

Just putting this out there.

  1. Not attracted to trees, but He has an affinity with them.

That, I can be sure of.

I wish He was a ghost. Ghosts aren't corporeal, and I wouldn't have had Echo fussing over me when I was crazy and bleeding all over the place if He had been a ghost.

What you're doing seems to me to be arrogantly stupid. Just saying. Unless you want a piece of this hell?

  2. I merely find this to be an interesting piece of collaborative writing, nothing more. My research into Slendy is merely to see if there are records of him elsewhere other than in the States and Europe. Turns out there are. I might even stop looking into him altogether, just content myself with the mythos and stories.

They make for good nighttime reading.

  3. That would be a good idea.

Ashinaga-jin. Tenaga-jin. Two I know of personally that are similar to... His appearance.

I sincerely hope you can keep thinking that. A collaborative effort, hm?

  4. Yupyup.

Hey, hehe. Japanese culture. Guess I forgot to look there.

While I'm in the Japanese section, I'll try to look up other places, like Middle Eastern or Indian or someplace.
